5 Tips To Jump Start Your Weight Loss
Losing weight is no walk in the park, if anyone tells you different, they're LYING! I personally struggled with my weight gain for a number of years and it wasn't until the past year where I adopted a healthier lifestyle and started using high quality supplements where I started to lose weight and keep it off. Everyones reccomendations will vary, but I've narrowed my MUSTS to 5 key points.
1. Plan and prep your meals in advance - There's really no way around this one. Failing to plan is planning to fail - end of story. No matter how well you think you're going to behave during the day all of those good intentions will go to hell when it's 2pm and you're starving. I recommend grocery shopping on Saturday and prepping a week's worth of lunches and snacks Sunday afternoon. If you're like me, trying to cram too much into a day will overwhelm you and cause you to cut corners. So I have to make things as stress free and manageable as possible. I normally do 2 kinds of protein (chicken breasts and ground turkey are easy to start with) and 3 kinds of vegetables. I recommend salt free seasonings like Mrs. Dash. They comes in a bunch of different flavors and it curbs your urge to pour salt all over your food. If you're at a loss for easy but tasty recipes make sure to follow me on Pinterest. I only pin things that fit within my low carb high protien diet and look easy enough for a 3rd grader to make.
2. Invest in a cute but large enough water bottle - You know you need to be drinking more water than you are. I know you know. So let's cut the crap and make it impossible for you not to. So what are our biggest obstacles? Problem 1. Not having the water on hand. Fix: Buy a water bottle to have said water on hand. Problem 2. I just forget to refill it when I finish one Fix: Buy a big one that holds at least 32 ounces. If you're trying to drink a gallon of water or more a day you only have to refill about 4 times! Much more manageable than filling up a dinky bottle 8 or 9 times. Problem 3: It's ugly or irritating to walk around it. Fix: Buy a cute one and watch how many compliments it gets! I know it sounds silly but it made me feel better and be more concious of my water intake when I did.
3. Start logging your meals - Apps like My Fitness Pal and Lose it are FREE and easy to use. When you log your meals you become more aware of what you're putting into your body and less likely to over indulge. Also, you can add your friends and keep each other motivated. I am less likely to have that piece of cake if I know my best friend will see and give me crap about it. She is a B but I love her.
4. Move your ass - Everyone thinks they walk enough during the day but I promise you, YOU DON'T. I could have swore I walked more than 10,000 steps a day until I bought a FitBit and realized it was more along the lines of 4,000. Tracking my steps has helped me keep myself accountable. I still do not hit my step goal every day but it helps me see where I am and be more mindful of sitting on my butt all day at work. Also, my friends and family keep inviting me to work week hustles and I just can't say no. You can also download the FitBit app and use the mobile step counter if you don't have a FitBit.
5. MOST IMPORTANTLY BE NICER TO YOURSELF - You are a human being, and a great one at that. You are worth putting work in for, and you are going to become the best you because you deserve it. So stop making yourself feel like crap if you don't see the scale moving right away. This is a process and a journey so trust the process and keep moving.
So those are my top 5 tips to starting your journey to the best you. What are some of your top recommendations?
