Resolutions......smesolutions.....

We made it y'all!

There were times I didn't think we would but we did. Minus a substantial group of celebrities, 2016 has finally come to a close. This past year has been interesting to say the least. My family has experienced a few bumps in the road but thanks to God and his blessings we have made it through. We enjoyed our Christmas and New Years break and took some time to visit New Orleans. That city really has a piece of my heart. Unfortunately it was raining so we rung in the new year soaking wet on Bourbon street. But I'd like to think of it as a cleansing rain. Maybe it was just what we needed.

Moving into the new year everyone is talking about resolutions and what they have planned for the new year. I actually hate that term because it implies that you have a problem and you're resolving or making a firm decision to stop or change. Now, that's all well and good but to me but I hate when people beat up on themselves. I feel like we should look at it like, ok - I'm not 100% happy with where I am so I should make positive changes. The harsh black and white decisions just don't sit well with me. They set you up for failure. Instead I just sat down this week and thought about some simple goals that I can strive to accomplish to improve my like and that of my family.

  1. Wake up every day with a grateful heart and a positive outlook. - Now, spare me the eye roll ok??? This shit is legit. When you start your day with a positive state of mind good things happen. It's all about the laws of attraction. Positive out - positive in!

  2. Bring my butt to the gym at least 3 times a week - so far so good. I really like going to the YMCA. I think it has a lot to do with there being so many elderly people there. They're so relaxed. I don't feel like I have to look hot being there lol.

  3. Do 1 outdoor activity with the family a week - everyone really did well with taking little day trips to state parks, just making sure everyone went out for a walk, or play date this last month or so. I want to make it a regular occurrence. Gives me a chance to hang out with friends and bring the kids along. Plus we're not sitting in front of the TV. WIN - WIN!

So there are some of my goals for the family going into the new year. See? Not crazy, self hating goals, no body shaming, or self hate. Don't make time for negativity not even from yourself.

What are some goals you have stepping into 2017?
